Hailing from the great white north in Canada—Donavan Harris is a two-time UCC competitor that finished in fourth-place overall in both the 2016 and 2017 editions of the Ultimate Callout Challenge. While his overall position was the same each year Harris certainly improved in his sophomore season posting two podium finishes including a third place finish on the drag strip and a second place finish on the pull track.
Harris has been racing diesel trucks since 2009 and has won and placed well at events all over North America including five consecutive years winning the Canadian Pro Street Championships and the 2010 NHRDA World Finals Pro Street class. Team Armor owns the two fastest diesel trucks in Canada and with the help of his small family-like team and their never-say-die attitude behind the truck and the team efforts; he hopes to do better in the 2018 UCC competition. The UCC competition truck is a 2008 standard cab 4WD Dodge Ram that has gone on a serious diet to shed weight and improve performance. It boasts a stout 6.7L Cummins engine under the hood that is backed by a built Dodge 48RE transmission.
In the 2016 UCC Harris’ best individual event finish was 4th place in the sled pull, but he and his team made tremendous improvements for the 2017 competition where he finished in 3rd on the drag strip with a best pass of 9.520 seconds at 143.51 MPH and 2nd on the pull track with a hook of 312.11 feet. Unfortunately he finished down the order in 10th place on the dyno while putting 1,625 HP and 2,182 lbs-ft of torque to the rollers for a combined 3,807 horsetorques leaving him in 4th overall for the second year in a row. But the taste of the podium Harris received in Indy at the 2017 Ultimate Callout Challenge in the drag race and sled pull individual competitions has only whet his appetite to climb to the top of the podium for the overall competition in 2018. With the help and support of his partners and sponsors Armor Inc., Dynomite Diesel Products, D&J Precision Machine, DPC Convertors, FASS Fuel Systems, Flo~Pro Exhaust, Mishimoto, Nitrous Outlet, Snow Performance, TS Performance and Yukon Gear & Axle the little team from Canada looks to come to Indianapolis and continue to build on their current success and move up in the overall standings.
Will the Canadians step up their dyno performance to match the other front runners in the competition? If they can pull it off and manage to finish on the podium in each event they have a good chance at knocking Lavon Miller and the Firepunk team off the top step of the podium. To find out what happens be there at the Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis on May 4th-6th 2018 and see it all unfold live and in person.
