Brian Shew is a dedicated driver and owns Quality Diesel Performance, a diesel shop based in Columbia City, Indiana. Brian has always had a passion for trucks and the diesel performance industry. In the beginning, he decided to enter the Ultimate Callout Challenge (UCC) as a way to grow Quality Diesel Performance and compete with some of the best shops in the United States.
Competing at the highest level has been an eye-opening experience for Brian. He has seen how much there is to gain in different aspects of the sport, not just in sled pulling but also in the other two events. Prior to UCC, Brian's driving experience was strictly sled pulling, although they do have an in-house dyno for testing purposes, drag racing was completely new to them.
Brian's biggest accomplishment with his build thus far has been turning an 8,800lb work stock truck into a competitive UCC truck. Looking forward, Brian's goals are to achieve 2,500 horsepower along with faster drag strip times and have a truck needing little to zero mods to do all three events well.
When heading into UCC, Quality Diesel always comes first because it’s their living. Brian's team works hard, even staying late and working weekends to prepare the UCC truck. Their 8-5 is for customers only, and they make sure to put their all into every build.
Brian has many people to thank for supporting his efforts in events like this, including his crew at Quality Diesel, friends that pitch in, and parts suppliers like Fleece Performance, Freedom Racing Engines, South Bend Clutch, and Yukon Gear & Axle.
The best pass the truck has ever made was 6.44 seconds at approximately 118mph. With Brian's dedication and passion for the diesel performance industry, there's no doubt that he and his team will continue to make strides in the UCC and beyond.
